Hello Running Demons! It’s Sunday afternoon. I hope you are having a great weekend. Mine is pretty nice. I managed to get two 10-minute runs in this week, and then yesterday was hoping for 20-30 minutes. I had to stop jogging at 17 minutes because those three tendons I had cut and transferred got sore from my arm jostling. However, I walked an extra 20 minutes so I ended up with 37 minutes on the workout, my longest aerobic session since September 28. I’ll take it. That’s my message. Let’s fill buckets. Stack episodes…Let me know how you are doing and if you have questions on any running-related or other topics.

Nice work JZ! I managed to get two runs in this week. A long and a short. Both felt great! The long was definitely a challenge on the body! Looking forward to to building the base back up. Did feel a pulling in the right hamstring the last 15 mins of the long run from an old injury…

Hey Demons! (Daemons?) Went super light today just to get started. 5min warmup>3min jog>2min walk >3min jog>5min walk cooldown> some light stretching. Mainly wanted to see how much my foot sole(& morton’s neuroma) could handle. No issues there, however my left knee was absorbing a little more shock than the rest of my legs ankles & hips. Also will wear some cletes next time to have more traction in the snow. Great weather today for running. How was everyone else’s week?

We’ll keep those hammies supple with our gym training but let’s make sure you progress mileage gradually. Let your body accomodate to the stresses of running. The cardiorespiratory system gets fit a lot faster than the tissues. You are on a great roll!

Howdy Bill…so smart to break up the session with some run/walk intervals. And yes, the traction really is important this time of year. I never used to think about that at all, but with these icy conditions slipping and falling is something we want to prevent!

Thanks everyone for motivating me to get out today. It has been quite a busy week and I only got one run and few walks in. I am proud of myself for getting to the climbing gym, masterclass, and getting in 2 midweek T2 workouts though. I need to build my base running mileage back up!

OK…this week I’m determined to add a few minutes to my mojo in those three yogs (Anchorman). My goals for 2022 have not taken shape yet, at least fully. Some of my training will be in hiking and load hauling for elk season, but I’d really like to spend the summer working on my sprinting. Ironically, this is dependent on my shoulder rehab, because I’ll need to be able to crank my arm hard to run all out, and that’s not going to be possible until probably the spring. I might end up resorting to some middle-distance work over 800 to the mile this year so I don’t have to use my arm so hard. I’m not really into the distance thang anymore personally but it’s great if you are. In the meantime, building some aerobic base helps. What are you guys planning?

I didn’t get out there today but planning my attack for tomorrow! And considering possible goal options for the spring…🤔

Hey John & Demons, happy Christmas eve. I did a 9 min jog this week and will have another on Saturday. As far a goals for the next year, habits is top of my list. Like the idea that John proposed about getting a walk or run in first thing in the morning. Having that same 1/2 hour block of time become habitual will make a big difference for me. An 800 or mile PB sounds good for next year. Would also like some conditioning to get back into some light trail running with an emphasis on the uphill.

Bill, that’s awesome. Getting consistent and disciplined, becoming fast over the short distance, and getting out into the mountains like a natural BEAST! Love it. It all starts now. Let’s build.

Hi guys! I hope your week is going well. It’s cold but that indeed is the season. Just a heads up that we will be launching into the next month shortly, and I’ll set up a new thread each week labeled “Running Demons Week of …” In there I’ll post the workout suggestions for the week along with a topic or two of interest. Feel free to make any comments or ask questions and we can all respond collaboratively like the team that we are. Best to you from Coach JZ
