KeymasterHey you guys are awesome! We’ve been drilling down on gait mechanics. This shit works and it really matters! You can improve your performance and reduce injury risk by making your machine run better, without ever increasing fitness (but oh we will). You see, you have to earn the right to train hard. That’s not being snarky. It’s just getting the form, technique, and mechanics revving so that your body can absorb workouts and execute. Let’s move up the bod a bit now. When your foot strikes the ground, pulse the opposite side hand downward somewhat briskly. This sets up nice reciprocal timing in your synchronicity (suck it Sting).

KeymasterEncourage somebody else to reclaim their birthright to running. They don’t have to become a marathoner but it’s a crying shame to see so many people who can’t and won’t run a step. The list of excuses is long but in reality every human needs to be able to run a little. It’s a basic locomotive requirement. Here at TLA, we hold three things dear. Sprint a 40 without blowing up a hammy. Jog a mile without stopping due to exhaustion. Walk 5. Any day. Any time. That’s what we do, need to be able to do, and absolutely have to help others to see this light. The loss of locomotive capacity is actually dumbing down our movement gene pool (no lie) and this shit has to stop. Here. Now!

ParticipantHey all, looking forward to checking out the Gait Mechanics! Thanks. Ran 15 mins yesterday and tried out the hand strikes. I may be uncoordinated, because my timing seemed to be off somewhat so will be focusing on with my next run. Ran with a friend so was probably distracted. Its good weather here to start being active again. Let me know how your runs are going? Have a great day.

KeymasterHowdy dudes! Danette thanks for the great comment. It’s always fun for me to share what I’m learning. And Bill, don’t worry about the coordination, it will come. In the MasterClass we can touch on some of these topics as well as work on some more movement competency. The knee I flared up is slowly getting better but I’m still just walking and biking. Slightly bummed but it is so important to be patient for all of us. I hope you guys are feeling great!

ParticipantI’ll have to check out the video too! I was able to get a couple of friends together for a run after work on Tuesday this week and it was so much fun! It feels nice to get more runs in socialize, and I agree Bill – the weather has been fantastic for runs. I am just happy the days are getting longer. Once I brought my awareness to my foot and hand strikes, I found that the hand strikes were happening pretty naturally after a little while.
See you in the masterclass tomorrow!
