Super late with this post…sorry guys. Been in some biomechanics rabbit holes and other exciting stuff. Hope your week of training has been going well. I’d like you to think about rhythm this week (and blues if you like). More specifically, research suggests that your running cadence, or strikes per minute, should be about 180 per minute at your steady running pace. There is also reasonable data to suggest that you might breathe in on two hits and out on 2 once you are in steady state after about two minutes. Try this: first count the number of footstrikes in 15 seconds and multiply by 4. How close to 180 are you? Next, experiment with timing your breathing with your footstrikes and see if the “2 in and 2 out” works best for you. I can’t wait to hear!
