I have served in a variety of capacities as an educator, consultant, clinician, manager, and owner of a sports training and rehabilitation clinic. My focus is on movement analysis and correction — and optimized training — for athletes of all levels. I’ve taken over 100 continuing education courses to date, covering practically every area in sports and orthopedic physical therapy including functional assessment, athlete management, treatment interventions, and integrative programming. There is a very good chance that if there is a technique or school of thought in physical therapy, biomechanics, exercise physiology, or athletic preparation…I’ve attended that seminar, read that book, and incorporate some of those methods into my own client management system.

  • Board-Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy
  • Certified Manual Therapist
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
  • Exercise Test Technologist

Throughout my career I have been involved in teaching, training, and presenting in a variety of related fields. This has included teaching health and physical education courses at the college level, conducting employee wellness and ergonomics training, and presenting at professional conferences and in other forums. It has always been extremely gratifying for me to be able to deliver the message of peak performance and empower a group to utilize knowledge.

I’m almost 65 years old and saw your presentation on backpacking light. I am 5’6” and about 200 lbs. I bought a 30lb kettle ball today and wanted to try the 12 week program. Do you think that 30 pounds is too much for an overweight older person? I also have lumbar stenosis that flares up sciatica occasionally. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Stuart. I agree that the 30# bell may be slightly aggressive but it might still work. You could always trim down the reps and use a protected range of motion. However, the better option might be to go for a 20-pounder if you can do an exchange. That program is still viable but I would advise you to maybe only try one gym workout a week for a few weeks and see how your body responds.
